Just a quick Q , i know black cars are hard to keep clean

but actually how hard is it?

cheers.

sort of a stupid question , but yeah

My VR4 is black every little bit of dirt or scratch show up like a sore thumb!! but in saying that I try to clean mine once a week and it looks pretty dam good! hope that answers your question

I had a black glx-r and f-me did it look shit house. It had scratches all over it from 4wd and dents... so it had loads of problems.

Actually it being dirty was good because when i was all clean and shiny you could see EVERY flaw it had.

So I don't think keeping them clean is the biggest problem with black cars, it's how they show up every flaw in the body work that's all.

i used to own a black my01 wrx and had no dramas cleaning it...its not that they get dirtier quicker its just that they show it up a bit more.

if you give it a good wax/clean a couple of times a year and then just occasionally rinse it/high pressure soap from a carwash you wont have any troubles.

i would certainly own another black car again (my god they look porn when clean!) and would of got a black legnum but didnt want to wait the wait.

Yeah they do look hot when clean. Even my glx-r looked awesome from down the block just after it was washed :(

Black is not for the faint of heart - IMO it's the best colour for a car by far, because of the way light reflects off it, showing every curve, groove and body line. But because of that, it's also the worst colour for showing up defects, scratches and dirt, so if you want it to look half decent it takes a lot of work. Unlike a white car where you can get away with a bit of neglect, you just can't with black.

So if you're not afraid of putting in the effort to keep it looking spotless, you'll have the best looking car around. But if that all sounds like a bit too much work, maybe stick with something that won't look too bad after a few weeks without a wash.

Mine's Pyrenees Black Pearl. Certainly dirt shows up more. It is not helped that I am slack with cleaning though. A bigger problem with a black car I find is how it heats up a lot in the sun during the summer. Another thing is people sometimes do not see you when switching lanes - have had a couple close calls, so I often drive with my lights on in the day time because of this.

Black may be bad for showing dents and marks but at least dark coloured filth can't be seen :D I think that a bit lighter colours have the same problem as black with dust, my mauve VR4 shows every little speck of road dust. Since I got the car i've been a bit obsessive with keeping it clean, I feel a bit bad actually ...no restrictions here atm though on water.

Go Black dude, you know if you get a white one, you will only look at the BLACK and cringe that u dint go BLACK!!

Keep the car well waxed and you can clean it with a single bucket of water and an Enjo carwash glove. The dirt just slides off.

hehe exactly what i did/do. although the white pearl does look hot when totally clean!
