Driving up a hill 10 minutes after filling up out of Bathurst and the car just died.

Whilst accelerating the dash lights just disappeared and I lost all power, luckily I coasted to a safe spot to stop

Battery still has 12.6v, alternator was charging fine.

Now when I turn the key to accessories nothing happens.

Luckily I have my tools and a multimeter with me.

What could it be?

Tried bridging pins 3 & 4 on the ifs plug and no luck.

Do the lights turn on now when you turn it to the Reds?

No dash lights at all, turns out ignition fuse was blown due to a short in the loom above the thermostat where it was rubbing. I made myself a replacement fuse as per the below pictures.

Pulled out the alternator in the hotel carpark and had it bench tested, dead diodes, luckily JAS Oceania have a staff member who lives nearby and will swap out a replacement tomorrow morning for me, absolute legends.

Also I now have an account with JAS Oceania so should be able to get replacements for other people for around $350.

Alternator in, arrived at 12pm, had it in in about 45 minutes. Charging fine now.
