Good place to powder/respray wheels?

the real cheap option and i have seen it done. take the wheels off, sand it back a bit, then get a spray paint and spray~ probably cost about $50 all up. i got a cheap set of wheels anyway. (quicky blinking my eyes)

Looks like a $50 job as well.

I did the FD wheels on my FTO like this, and it looked good for about a month.

Ok, so i got a quote this arv to get my wheels painted gloss black. I was quoted between $180-200 per rim. This price includes the following..

Drop car or rims off
Remove tyres and lead weight
Repair any cosmetic imperfections, i.e. gutter rash (major damage extra cost)
Remove all damaged/flaking old paint
Etch rims
Prime rims
Paint the entire rim in desired color (Dupont apparently) then bake
Use a clear enamel top coat (apparently high scratch/impact resistance) then bake
Replace tyres and re-balance rims
Fit back on car
12month warranty

Oh and was told they need the car/rims for 2-3 working days

Seems decent to me. With all the work involved in the job, the stripping of the tyres, refitting, balancing, painting and all the labour the price seems fair. It probably wouldn't be worth the guys time and effort if the price was much cheaper.

Wow! Well done Madhav, what color do you call it? Looks black but more matt?
I am still considering my options but with both Lee & Dawso convincing me to leave mine gold, i may change my mind.

Yeah I am happy with them, will see how they look with my car. The colour is satin black. The repairs costed $150... I may paint a blue strip on the lip, like the drifteks, and also paint the brake calipers blue.

Ah yes, I was painting my track car in satin black, easier to maintain than matte, but isn't overly glossy. You'll find a lot of window linings on cars are satin black

Thinking about getting the stock enkei rims done satin black to go for that all black look.

If you're in Sydney try Jap Link Motors on Paramatta road, they do all the work on my Legnum and quoted me $450 for 4 wheels including taking tyres off the rims.
they've got an Evo in their yard with the rims done black and it looks awsome.

just waiting on cash to get my Evo 8 MR rims done.

$450 for a set? Pass Powder Coating only charges $50 rim.

$50 per rim to powdercoat the rim + $10-15 per rim to remove tyres + $15-20 per rim to refit tyres and balance = $300-$340
Plus time and effort to swap car on to spare rims with hand jack vs putting car on hoist and then there is the 1.5hr round trip out to kings park and back twice.

Mathematically i'm better off paying someone do do all the messing about and crap and going to work for 4hrs
