Hey,

My names mark, been interested in changing cars for a while, have had a 94 landcruiser turbo diesel for a while, don't get the chance to go fourbying enough to make it worth keeping, so plan is to sell up and buy a Galant vr4, looks like most of you own Legnums :p.

I love the fact that not many people know about them or have them, it was either a vr4 or chaser, but in the end this gives more bang for your buck.

Cheers Mark.

Welcome Mark,

Really good bang for your buck with the VR4, slingshots off the line, great traction, bit limited to big power upgrades unless you have heaps of time and money compared to a Chaser, if your a big power number person but otherwise both nice cars!

Welcome mark, both cars would be great depending on what you want!

ill be happy with stock, probably most ill want out of one is around 220kw/300hp at the wheels, but that would be for later.

It's been established that ~200awkw is about the limit for these cars on stock turbos. They are by no means slow at that point! But if you want bigger figures then you will have to be looking at bigger turbos, which brings a lot of other changes too ($$)

yeah thats fine, as i said i would only do that sort of modding later down the track, early on ill be happy with whatever it comes stock with, only thing i want to upgrade from stock is the exhaust.

Cheers Mark.

Welcome Mark, I have had my galant just over a year now & still love it, it came with some very tasty mods so I was lucky, they are a great car to own heaps of fun to drive, if you don't need boot space go for the Galant otherwise go the Legnum, either way you won't be disappointed. Theres plenty of info on the forum & the people on here make you feel welcome, good luck with your sale & search

Cheers Phil :)

Yeah awesome, lucky you that yours got some nice mods with it. I just want one with no body mods, if it comes with engine mods im fine with that. Yeah no need for boot space here, i want it due to it being practical and fast, plus its a 6 banger none of the little 4's for me, just want that good 6 sound.

Thanks i hope it all works out for me, problem is the excitement, makes you rush haha.

Cheers.

Sweet thanks for all the help and positive comments, did most of you go through an importer or get one that was already here.
cheers

Awesome that makes me very happy! =]. How about the importing question? Did most import one yourself or ask for an importer to find one or buy one that was already imported previously?

Cheers.

I have two Imports, My VR-4 and an R34 GT-t and I personally bought them both in country.I did purchase my 34 through a low volume importer but it came landed with a lot of paperwork and an extensive warranty so I knew it wasn't just another dodgy import. It turned out to be mechanically immaculate and hasn't cost me a cent in problems in 40,000kms. My VR-4 I bought off a guy in Townsville, I picked his brain to pieces and made sure he had a bunch of paperwork and service receipts since he bought the car (he was the first owner and only had it for 10,000kms) and looked it over extensively. I have always been afraid of importing a car myself because I know how easy it is to get ripped off, and it has happened to a few mates pretty badly (cars arrived needing full engine rebuilds or were 'missing' 75-100,000 kms etc)

That being said there are people on here that can help you pick a car and Import it for you.If I had the option when I purchased my car I would DEFINITELY have bought one off one of the owners on here who I knew had a good reputation and a healthy obsession with their VR-4. It helps the community but its also very good insurance to buy a car you know for sure has been looked after by someone who loves their VR-4. That's just my opinion anyway.

Yeah well ideally i would buy one off a member, problem is most of the members sell or own Legnums not Galants, but yeah food for throught, there aren't many in the country, a few importing company's in Sydney get them, most are auto's.

Cheers.

I guess in the end its a matter of patience/energy.You can wait it out for the exact car you want, or hunt one down and get hold of it.Or it'll be 'close enough is good enough' and you might find something that's not the exact combination you want but is still a fantastic car in great condition at the right price.I always say when you are looking for something rare or unusual you need to keep an open mind and be prepared to compromise at least a little.I looked for ages for a 5 speed 4 door r34 (wife and kids) that wasn't a conversion or hadn't been flogged out.I ended up with an auto but I compromised because of its price and condition.Took me over 5 years to find the commodore I wanted as well, there were only 300 made and the ones that showed up were always clapped out.I got one in the end though. I hope the car you want shows up and you can be behind the wheel before too long.

All that nonsense being said I just had a look on carsales and seen 4 manual Galants so they aren't really that hard to find :)

Looks like the wheels are in motion, car seems to be attracting some good attention, have had some offers, having a look at a pre facelift galant tomorrow, so yeah slowly things are moving towards the joys of vr-4.

Anything to look at besides the normals, and the lower control arms?.

Cheers.
