Ditto, cam covers come off without lifting engine. Removing the engine mount helps with access to the timing belt but shouldn't need to lift (ie prop engine, leave at same height)

Which cover are you having trouble with?

Sorry the timing cover, had removed the pulley in front of the water pump,
But won’t clear the side guard to slip down. I’ll try and get a photo.

So so it hits the side of the car before clearing the tip of the water pump.

This forum specifically is for 8th gen galant/legnum, so the above info applies about the covers and access.

Is been a while since ive worked on a 4cyl galant. I seem to remember lowering the engine to clear chassis. Front roll mount came off with the cross member, and rear one had enough movement to allow it to drop?
