Hi everyone. My name's Nick, and I'm from Brisbane.

I'm currently looking for a Legnum VR-4! I've been looking at carsales.com.au, and I've found a few around my budget ($9000 - $12,000).

I'm looking forward to learning more about these cars, so I'll be using the "search" button quite often!

Cheers.

Welcome Nick, hope to see you at a meet in future.

How about taking your $12k to the casino, putting it on black, winning and then buying my Legnum :D

cheers

Lee

p.s. 10/10 for knowing to search before asking questions ;)

Great to see some more QLD interest!

Thanks for the welcome guys!

I wish I could afford the $18k... looks like a beautiful car!

In terms of specs, I'm not sure what models there are in the range. I guess my only requirements at this stage are that it has the TT V6 engine, and little/no mods (that's the fiancee talking hehehe). And, of course, something reliable!

I've just sold my MY07 Forester XT (187.7kW atw), so I'm after some good bang-for-buck and all-wheel drive... and plenty of room for the dogs.

How long can your dogs hold their breath. They'd look great in my Boot. :) It's in your price range.

Locally!

I'm still looking at a few options... Nissan Stagea, Mitsi Legnum and Toyota Caldina.

You will end up with an older stag for the same price as a leg.... and it will be a container sized tank. The caldina's a slow POS.

The leg is your only real option. :)

Biased much? hehehe

I do like the look of the Legnums... as does the all-important finance minister (a.k.a. fiance). It only has to last me a couple of years anyway.

You blokes are already twisting my arm ;)

The caldina's are basically a corolla station wagon with turbo and 4wd, and stagea's have almost commodore sized boots and don't handle all that well.

The only car that is really close to a Legnum is a Legacy, which I have to ask, coming from a Forester, why are you not looking at a Legacy?

Meh, I've done the Subi thing (for now). Time for something different!

Honestly Nick; I faced the same question when I finally decided on getting a super dooper wagon.

I weighed up the pros/cons of the stagea and legnum (as the caldina wasn't worth my time); and obviously went with the legnum.

I found the stagea to be too big and bulky feeling around corners. I mean the RB25 is a fantastic platform to have and parts are available from anywhere these days. But at the end of the day, I came from a heavily modded gc8 wrx; so handling was a big thing for me. The legnum runs an AYC system from the evo; enough said!

The best advise I can give you is test drive both; not a drive around the block, a real test like fast take off, slow take off, fast cornering, etc. Talk to your partner about which one would fit your lifestyle the most.

Biased or not; I honestly can't think of a wagon that beats the legnum for price/features.

.... Don't even let me get started on the looks of the stagea interior :) Someone from Nissan loved straight lines!

Go and hassle some dealerships; weather you want to buy that example or not... take it for a test drive and really give it stick as you would your own car. That way you don't need to worry about it being someone's actual car.

I paid a little extra for mine from www.motorman.com.au; they are down near springwood. They generally have great examples and don't hasstle you about a sale. Did I mention they are more then happy to let you test drive... I know I tested every legnum they had in stock when I was there :p

... anyway... just my 2c buddy.

That's worth a lot more than 2c mate... thanks for the advice. I think I am leaning towards the Legnum now. At least there's a site to help with any tech issues!

Don't count the Stag out though a great bit of kit and now you can pick up decent examples within your budget. I know I was very tempted by a Stagea (albeit the Autech version, which BTW I will still buy one day! :p) but found the look of the Legnum and the fact that they are a little bit left field too much to resist.

Welcome aboard and have a look around, I'm sure you will find the answers you're looking for.

Be a man, get a Legnum! :p

Was that the official tagline when the Legnum was first released? hahaha.

I'll be viewing a couple of Legnums this weekend... just hoping I can nudge one down in price!
