R/H Rack Boot

Mine split the other day and leaked oil.
Is it just a matter of sliding the old one off and sliding the new one on?
Mine came with 2 cable ties. Or is it something that has to be done by a workshop?

there shouldnt be any oil leaking from there,

sounds like your steering rack seals are starting to go.

to chang the boot, remove the tie rod end, (mark of measure its locaton first)
remove old boot, slide o new one,
refit the tie rod end, if you get it wrong it will need a wheel alignment

As Carsten suggested, you shouldn't have oil in there in the first place, so make sure you renew all the seals that could be causing the leak when you do this.

It's not a constant leak. it was an initial leak and now nothing.
Is that normal. If selas are going shouldn't it be a constant dribble?
This was more of a "wham bam" oil all over the boot and now nothing
It is maybe something above the boot and the split boot was just a coincidence.
The fluid was kind of orangy brown and thin. Is there anything in the vicinty that has leaked onto the boot possibly??

possible, mine was the same.. im not concerned by it since i've cleaned it and tried to turn the steering wheels while the motor's running and the rubber boot off.. no leaks came out...

I got a generic one from Repco to suit a Mitsubishi Magna or previous model Galant. Was just over $12 i think.

Yeah seems they are a shared part with other Mitsu cars so Repco could be the go.

Otherwise the genuine part number is
MB501711, $28.00 ea NZD + shipping from Bill @ Ralliart.
