Would it be safe to say that with 170,000kms and no transmission issues, that my box already has a solid wave spring ??
Its a 97 PFL so it probably came out with the shitty one and I guess it would have broken by now ??

Assume the opposite with these gearboxes.

Better to pay to have it fixed & strengthened, than to have to pay for a new gearbox. Think of it like insurance.

Already had solid wave spring. Replaced with a new one anyway. Internal filter was clean. Torque converter seal was not seated properly. Suspected either never was installed correctly initially or pressure build up caused it to dislodge.

Hey guys, do gearboxes without the external filter still have a casting in the same place?...

Or am I looking at a gearbox without a thread to screw the filter onto...

Gearbox was from another car, had solid wavespring and tight carrier pins (not tigged)

Serial (from transmission): ?
External filter: [Y/N] No
One Way Clutch (OWC): [Y/N] YES

If failed, why? Output planetary gearset destroyed, one pin found very loose. Occured rapidly and under no load, but box had been abused previously...

Transmission ever failed? Not since I picked it up two weeks ago

So did I read somewhere that some variants may have the solid wave spring?
Fluid looks reasonable too but I'm going to get it flushed and such anyways seeing as newly acquired car, so we shall see if there is any metal floating around, fingers crossed!
Feels fine while driving around the last week or so though

If failed, why? Leaking transmission fluid. Revs high changing between 2 and 3. Going to get it pulled apart and checked this week. External filter has 01/2009 on it.

Currently has 180,000km on the clock
