transfer case stuffed

gettin a new transfer case from a halfcut put in this week, cos old one shit itself . ever seen this before?

Only heard of it happening when there was no fluid in it.

i had it serviced in VIC, before i drove it back up to sunny coast, n was told the oil was low n was a possible internal leak between t-case n diff or something. bit of a worry :S, then drove it up no probs, but recent noise on acceleration (like a whurring) n a scrapey noise when backing off. only when under load obviously, so did think front diff, n sure enough . did it say how much it was for that other guy's replacement?
