1967 Ford Fairlane detail- GMH "Cosmo" purple

Hey all,

I bought a new Concours random orbital and a heap of detailing products during the week and was itching to use the thing. I've been meaning to to my Dads Fairlane for a while now and seeing as he is doing my exhaust for free then I thought I should repay the favour!

Its a GMH Cosmo purple bare metal respray which was done about 3-4 years ago. To be honest the prep work was really bad under the fluros, lots of sanding marks and a bit of shrinkage here and there, but all in all not a bad job for 6K considering the size of the thing, and the body work that had to be done.

The thing is bloody huge, so much surface area to polish so it took me around 5 hours or so just to do the paint. Its such a beautiful car and colour, good fun to work on and see the end result.

This is just about to wash after the cutting stage

Then hand sealing with Autoglym carnuba wax after the machine polishing stage,

Then the reflections and glamour shots after wax removal,

The VY/VZ purple was called Phantom Mica I believe
