A little help need, whats this??

Poking around my engine before an noticed this loose pipe

when pulled out

looked around and i guess it meant to be attached to this? If so what is it for?

Guess should put it back on...
Any help appreciated


Edit: followed the tube and it comes from a black plastic can thing at the back of the engine which has a tube marked fuel going in and purge (this tube) coming out.

yes thats where is supposed to be connected,
its a vacuum feed for the carbon canister (keeps gas fumes down)

Cheers, how would this effect anything, if at all?

it would act as a vacc/boost leak if left unconnected

Mpau found with his car that when he disconnected the canister the car smelt badly of petrol.
