Hello Ladies and Gents.

My name is Sam & I am new on here.

I have a Silver 96 Galant VR-4 Auto that has thing weird cutting problem.

Yes I have used the search button, yes I have used Google (I am Ex OzHonda).

The car will drive normal when not on boost.
However as soon as boost starts to come on it misses and pops in the engine bay and pops alot out of the exhaust.

I am pretty sure I have sorted all of my boost leaks so I am now fully out of options.

I have new NGK spark plug leads, Apexi N1 muffler, GFB MBC, K & N Panel Filter, Autotechnica Boost Gauge, New Water Pump, New Fuel Filter, New full sized (600x300x75) FMIC, and new timing belt tension pulleys.

My mechanic thinks it could be that the timing is too advanced.
VR4cobra (I met up with him last night) thinks it could be more boost leaks or that my spark plugs have not been re-gapped to 0.8mm).

Coils are fine.
Will be buying decent plugs this weekend.
My mechanic put in $5 ngks. So I will replace with most likely platnium lasers.

Sounds a bit similar to the problem Morbius was having. He found that the air filter was in the wrong way! Simple mistake and worth a check.

The compliance service stickers they put under the bonnet show the wrong spark plug gap, it should be 0.8mm so make sure that's correct. Also copper plugs won't last much more than an oil change, you really need to use platinum or iridium.

also, to quickly diagnose this issue.. remove one of the plugs from the front bank then check the gap on it..

always start with the cheapest if in doubt of where the issue is.. just my 2c

the gap would be like 1.1mm from factory.
there was a cut but it only did it at 14-15psi.
now its doing straight on boost load.
So I will try these VK22's and see how it goes.
when I come to the meet tonight you will hear it.

From the Japanese workshop manual, 1.1mm is the maximum limit before replacing and the specified gap is 0.7 - 0.8mm. So running 1.1 wouldn't be helping things.

Mine was doing similar when I got it. Changed the plugs to NGK Iridium 0.8 and the miss is gone.
Now to sort out my overfueling.
