is a non-turbo legnum radiator sufficient for our cars?

well my car is just about back on the road.ive been putting it all back together this weekend.had no troubles with anything.
it starts, runs fine apart from oil dripping from the oil filter, so im hoping its just the filter damaged and not anything else and it will be replaced in a couple days

though today i was looking at my old radiator, then i looked at my new second hand radiator, and i noticed my new one is only like 10mm thick,as oppose to our 26mm thick or so.so now im stuck with what i suppose is an n/a legnum radiator.

the radiator came with the cut i bought through vr4wgn,i payed for a vr4 cut,but it turns out i got an na cut and he threw in an intercooler.

im almost certain this new radiator will cause my engine to overheat,
but can anyone confirm this?

I reckon in Aus the 26mm standard thickness would be already trying its little heart out to cool, there is no way you would get away with something less than half its thickness.

already have that screen up simon
been sitting here waiting for replys to help me click the buy now button.for that price you cant complain
just annoys me,even though i planned to get one of those down the track,i thought that by paying for a vr4 cut id get a vr4 radiator just to use for a few more months to keep the cost of my repairs down to get my car back on the road.

so how long did it take to arrive simon?

simple answer... NO..

a little more painful answer.. YES.. give it 20k kms and you'll need to buy a half cut or engine..

a guy here in nz bought a used vr4, had a NA rad fitted after a noise repair,
was like that for ages,he had no issues,
and he only swaped to a vr4 one when it was pointed out he had the wrong one.

I would demand a radiator from vr4wgn as you paid for a VR-4 half cut and didn't get one.

As Carsten said just up there, the n/a ones seem to be reasonably ok in NZ, but we don't get 40C days. I WOULD NOT run the car for very long periods of time with the thinner radiator, but the thin radiator is probably ok for you to drive the car up and down the road to check everything is working ok.

well i rang up today and there are no more alluminium radiators in stock for another 2-3 weeks.
so does anyone else know of anywhere else i could get one from,i know a could get an evo 6 rad but then id have to change the mounts, which is a pain because i could have done it so easily a week ago before the lower and upper rad support were painted.

i think once i fix the other couple problems ill see how badly it overheats, and if it doesnt seem to affect it much ill just drive it to work and back until the other rads are in stock

Like i said in the post, THE BEST SERVICE FROM ANY AFTERMARKET PRODUCT - EVER!!!
I found him very easy to deal with, i paid for the product by 2pm that afternoon, it was in my hands at 11am the next day. You really can't beat that.

Front cuts really are hit and miss, demanding a radiator isn't going to happen, you bought it like that end of story. If they'd swapped it out after you paid for it, that's something else, although i can't see them doing that.

or you can try radiator specialist in your local area.. some of them have contacts to workshops who can customise aluminum rads..

If you bought a front cut advertised as a VR-4 front cut, and you can see the top of a radiator in the pictures, THEN YOU SHOULD BLOODY WELL GET A VR-4 RADIATOR

there was more wrong with the cut than just that,it was a facelift cut consisting of a pearl white front bar and grille and the front of some flared wheel arches, silver guards that had no flared plastic wheel arches and an indigo blue bonnet.
i was never shown a picture of it,but was told it was a vr4 cut,at one stage he told me it was a non turbo cut then a week later he said he pulled some strings and got a vr4 cut again, but when i asked if it came with intercooler pipes as well,he then said it was a non turbo cut with an intercooler thrown in.

he also said i would most likely not have to pay customs but it all depended who was working at customs on the day,
$1075 later at customs i got to pick up my nose cut.

now after painting my car,i find out the guards have strange holes in them above where the side skirt attachs because the guards are a little different
