Legnums in NZ

I was recently told there are a lot of legnums over in New Zealand. I was jsut wondering if this was the case and if so whether many hire companies have them if anyone may have seen them around.

If you do a search for Legnum on trademe you always get well over 500 cars.

I don't know of any hire companies with any at all though.

Hi Nick,

I'd say they're too old to be in most rental fleets. You might find one through small independent "rent-a-dent" type companies.

i was just checking because im heading over there around july this year and needed something to drive round in so thought i may as well have a look

no way, was over there in july04 and there was a pile of them, all pretty cheap too, there import laws (if any) must be pretty flexable, anything japanese was there

lots of sube legacy, mitsubishi legnums, lexus is200/is300 and the like

We have pretty much zero laws regarding "grey imports". Because NZ has no local car manufacturing to protect like you do over here (Holden & Ford) it's pretty much a free for all and what importers can bring in.
There is also no mimimum or maximum age of the vehicle being imported.
Ever seen a factory 1993 2 door GT Corolla liftback with the 20v motor and factory twin exhausts??
Not much power compared to the VR4 but pretty cool looking car anyway!
We get all the shiz over there!
