Hey all, new car and i'm going through all the usual servicing first. I'm handy with tools but the transmission is too expensive to muck-about with just yet. Does anyone have good stories of getting their auto serviced in newcastle or down the coast?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

If you sign up to club vr4 they have an awesome guide for changing the trans oil yourself. Just need another person to help. I think it costs under $40 to join and get access all to their guides

barry stace automatic transmissions at islington did mine, first one he'd done, but he did some research and was confident in doing it

Anyone that specialises in Mitsubishi or Hyundai transmissions will already have a decent knowledge of ours. They were used in many different models, although sometimes as a 4-speed and mostly as front wheel drive versions.

Just ask them if they are familiar with the W5A51 which is the model of transmission our cars have.

Other variants include F4A41, F4A4B, F4A42, W4A42, F4A51, W4A51, W4A5A, F5A51.

They will have certainly worked on one from this list before.
