get a buggy or a truggy if you are racing with big bore shocks so that you can do some bashing as well, my brother in law has had a nitro and a electric HSP truggy and had great success with them

+1 for hobbyking, i bought heaps of stuff from there

Thread revival!

I bought an HSP buggy with 3S Lipo, 3300kV motor (13.5T) 80A ESC and it goes pretty well! Broken a few strut towers, dog bones etc with big air jumps at BMX track etc, and generally had fun with my boy.

However this week I bought an HPI Sprint roller setup for drift - transferred the motor, ECS etc over from the buggy. So far just had some fun in the car park here at work... well its fun LOL

I'm just a big kid at heart.. I say its for my boy, but deep down i'm spending $$ on the toys I wanted as a kid haha :p

Here it is. At first I thought it was a Mk3 Jetta body, but seems I was wrong after searching the net. Just some random 4door I have NFI what it is.

This is my last purchase; its a Tamiya TA04-S 2001 Calsonic GTR. Cost $400 back in 2002 and Ive got receipts for $1300 in options. What Ive done include: carbon fibre chassis, aluminium dampers with adjustable spring rates, adjustable sway bars, adjustable ride height, digital speed controller with brakes instead of reverse, deleted 4wd, aluminium rear lsd, RS 540 electric motor (not in pics), custom metallic purple paint (almost factory nissan midnight purple), chrome wheels, home made front mount "intercooler" and fat home made zorst

delete 4wd... does that make it a little spin prone? Looks like you dont run the normal platic drift wheels either, Id imagine grip is a little more important when running RWD

rc cars are alot of fun, had many over the years and different types. Currently i have one car which is a losi 1:16 truggy. Running brushless and 2s lipo. This is possibly the most fun I have had with any one of my cars. It is a mini 8ight -t. I will be bold enough to say best value for fun factor I have ever had.

No wheels involved with my current rc obsession of choice; I've gone a little nuts researching fpv quadcopter gear. Anybody else got the bug?

Having no 4wd did make it a bit tail happy but that was my plan, I never raced it competitively, just for fun. The tyres are what came with the wheels and are a harder compound than what the originals were. As it was strictly a concrete car, grip wasn't that important.

I get grip isn't important. I thought all rc
Drifting was 4wd but seems rwd drift is gaining momentum with more experienced rc hobbyists. Turns out after stripping the spur gear I found out my car is a GV chassis not hpi. Fortunately hobby habit (local big store/track ) has gv parts and was able to get it running again ;)

ive gone down the hpi, traxxas and tamiya route previously (still have my TT01 drift car). sold them ages ago and getting back into it. got a cheap 1/10 scale HSP brushless buggy and having a lot of fun with 2s and 3s batteries

they are pretty durable but i regret not getting a 1/8 scale, but then they wouldnt fit in a backpack. my mate and i bought the same car and race during lunch at work

My acquisition as of today - so I can keep the GV for my son, and I'll have something a bit better quality haha
sellers add:
Sakura Drift car that I don't use anymore. Built it from scratch using upgraded aluminium parts, it has a hobbywing 5.5T brushless motor and matched esc with program card, installed with it is a SR3300T by spektrum. Included in the sale is my DX2S radio. This retails for for $200 alone. Also included is various spares, 1 5000mah 2s lipo with deans (45min run time flat out) as well as 2 shells, one is a R35GTR and a JZA80 Supra. Both shells have been used but still look good on the track.

I think this is turning into an addiction....
new acquisitions:
D3 Counter Steer drift chassis. Already has front one way diff, locked rear diff, alloy pulley set, belt tensioner, Watanabe RS rims etc.
purchased a hobbywing 9T motor and 60A ESC to suit
D3.jpg

Then got carried away and picked up this Team Associated T4.2 Stadium Truck roller, and will transfer electrics out of my HSP buggy into it - 3S 3300kV wheelstands anyone? LOL
t42 1.jpg

t42 2.jpg

then I bought a brushed motor setup for the grand total of $25 to put back into the HSP for my son to use.

I have a problem I think LOL

Those hsp aren't bad. I got one recently to bash at work with my mate. He got one too.

The drive shafts bend so easily. The shock tower mounts are made out of the flimsiest alloy I've seen yet Lol. But they are pretty Damn quick with a 3s
