Needs to be minimum 4 doors, 5 seats, either wagon or hatch, Dual Clutch or MT ok, and preferred turbo (coz racecar of course)

What are my choices?

I like

Golf R
Focus ST
MPS
Merc A250 Sport (possibly just out of range)

Dont really want a V8 Commo Wagon as I still want economy.
Would love new XR6T but would have to keep Leggie and that will probably be too expensive (two regos etc)

K go!

I have 2 mates with Golf Rs in sydney (one in epping, one in parramatta), their fuel economy is slightly better than my Legnum

v8 commo economy wise can be quite good for what they are (heavy ass car), they can go on gas, manual one can do pretty well on the juice. bang for buck mod wise they are excellent. after an intake and tune the power and economy improves tremendously. I had a manual VE SS sedan with quite a hefty amount of mods and averaged 9.5L per 100km, a lot was freeway driving, admittedly at a very fast pace. (did about 70,000km before i sold it) servicing is cheap and about 15,000km apart if you take it easy. i was doing mine at 10,000km

personally, i would go back to a commodore, the VEs are excellent value. i wouldn't get an auto, the manual v8 is very nice to drive (you can take off in second, change into 5th and keep going along nicely)

if the hyundai i40 wagon was faster, i'd snap one up in an instant. unfortunately it is way too slow

if the XR6T has fold down rear seats, get one. or a WRX hatch

2000 Legnum Mint with 44589ks when I got it. Now with black leather seats. After 3 years of fun some terminal engine bay wiring issues raised their ugly heads and it died. I Now drive a 2002 Legnum and have retired the 2000 to spare parts duty.
Mmm $50k, Does 4 or 5 Nice Legnums sound good. Mabee one in every colour.

I've always said if I come into a large sum of money I'd buy a
Aisle Blue TME VI.5, with stripes and have it literally rebuilt from the ground up.
Seam weld the chassis
full repsray
engine/driveline/brakes rebuilt or replaced with new items,
very mild power upgrades.

thats the dream anyway.

They are 00/01 models, does that still count as new?

Give a Ralliart Lancer Hatchback a consideration then, not as killer as the Evo X but makes a nice daily, also available in SST. :)
