From what I read up on the DSG faults OS, it was the 7sp models that were failing.
I mind was open to how it was going to drive, and throughout the 40min drive on the highway and some hills etc, it seemed very nice. Shifting in manual mode felt sharp too.
But this will stay in D 99% of the time. So I am sure my wife will be none the wiser
It was the 6-sp DSG that was causing a shit ton of issues. VW USA were forced to replace tons of them over there. Here they refuse to accept it as a known fault.
The mechatronic unit is the main culprit.
The 7-sp in the new Caddy hasn't failed so far in the same drastic manner, but its driving style still shits me to no end. The rolling especially.
Hey Tom, yep, great car. Been lucky enough to have driven a coupe version.
BUT, we couldn't even look at sedans. Meant that we would always have to take my work ute if we ever needed to take the puppy anywhere. And that's just a pain. We opted for the Golf plus roof racks and roof top luggage box. Means we dont need to take two vehicle just to the beach! Paid our deposit on the below Golf (Same colour, wheels, sunroof etc, just not the xenons) and got it for a very good price. Should be ready in a fortnight.
