Mac Dog
Leaving Skid Marks
Ok, so i've been hearing a weird "knock" in the front suspension, in most cases, at slow speeds. Much like whats been described below.
After a wheel alignment and a visual inspection the tyre joint couldn't diagnose the problem. So today I took it for a Peddars "28 Point Suspension Safety Check". The fella's were very helpful and very curious about this ".....Magna?!?!?!?...."
Now I still dont understand all the suspensions components very well but can comprehend just a little bit better than a 3 year old solving an algebraic equation.
He has written down for the inspection:
Tie Rod ends = RH and LH worn
Lower Bushes = rear bushes worn
Steering gear = RH backend worn (strut bar to chassis)
Then I asked if he could list exactly what I needed:
Strut bar to chassis
RH rackend/tie rod
Both Tie rod ends.
He has quoted me $730 to get this sorted (but wasn't 100% about the parts he quoted me). Now my experience with mechanics is I'd rather do it myself in 99% of cases. This one is no different although I'll be getting assistance from a friend or I might get Smooth Garage to sort it out.
Now I'm really unsure of what parts I need to get. After checking out some of the other threads I came across this store http://search.stores.ebay.com/World...sionQQfsooZ1QQfsopZ1QQsaselZ146149511QQsofpZ0
I'm not sure of what exactly I need to get, and compatibility between models etc. Can someone please point me in the right direction? I know that this shouldn't cost what I was quoted.
What was yours doing before you had the ends fitted Josh? My steering has a little play and also have a little "clunk" if i turn into a driveway or something.
Yep exactly same as mine, clunk at carpark speeds when turning over bumps etc. it was the inner tie rod on the drivers side. jack up the car and it was obviously loose. i got the above pictured kit from US about $130 delivered, fits good, and fixed the problem. (you must get an alignment to fix the toe afterwards. )
