The fitPC is a n off the shelf item:
http://www.fit-pc.com/web/purchase/order-direct-fit-pc3/

We have a fitPC2 and fitPC3 here at work so I have had a little play with different options.

Settings available which make it ideal:
Startup on power (ie ignition on)
Power off when power is removed (ie ignition off). In this mode it doesn't write files to the cache or something so nothing is lost by pulling power. Computer geeks may be able to expand on this one. It's a setting in BOIS. Obviously only good with a SSD.

Impressive onboard graphics. Been following the fitPCs for some time now so I'll be interested to watch this.

I was tinkering in getting a carputer, ended up getting one of these;

Fujitsu U820 UMPC. I'll just mount it on the dash & take it with me when I leave the vehicle.

Atom 1.6Ghz CPU

How much did that cost? Im looking for something to keep in the boot to pull out and log data but everything I found was to big or too expensive.

Mine? Was $400 off EBay. Were fairly expensive to buy brand new (it's replacement goes for nearly $2000), but the replacement models don't have a swivel screen anymore.

Best of luck finding one! I waited for years :)

For what it is and the price I would rather a small PC that I can stash away in the boot.

The point of a car PC is a lot more than logging.
GPS, audio, logging, movies etc!
So the evoscan, while being good doesn't quiet cut it.

Thanks for that, thats much cheaper than the Carputer.me stuff. I might actually be able to fit one of these soon. I'll be really keen to see how you go with this.

Yeah, I'll be waiting a while to do this mod too. Have a few more pressing mods to do first.

If I built my own car PC how would I go about getting Evoscan to load at startup and open a logging screen?

I would probably create a macro, or there may be some form of syntax used in the evoscan command line for it to begin logging on startup

If that is the case, put it in your windows startup folder

Bob = your uncle.
