Josh there's an auto 'box specialist in Bentley, I have no idea what they're like but I drive past them on a fairly regular basis. Might be worth having a chat with them, or someone similar?

I dunno if anyone's had dealing with them but speak to the Mechanic at Ralliart in scarbs he's a champ has had experience with one auto and one manual and he knows his stuff. Can give exact estimates as hes done the work before... he knows what a Legnum VR4 is when you tell but I'm not sure what he's like with transmissions. He's miles away from me so unforutnately I wont go through him unless something really shuts itself

Dude I am dropping my car in tomorrow at a place in Belmont to check whether the gearbox needs a rebuild, if so I have found the parts for $500 from the USA, from there I just need these guys to pull the box out, rebuild it and put it back in. Will keep you posted.

Don't go to Mistubishi, go to an auto gearbox specialist who has previously delt with mistsubishi 5 speed autos, either the F5A51 or the W5A51, both internallly are the same.

Josh, what about the front cut box isn't working? Reason I ask is I have read from some of the guys in NZ that the auto can be sensitive to the ECU they are connected to - i.e. if you have installed the 2nd hand box, and it wont play ball, did you swap out the Auto ECU also? This is particularly important if using an auto from a different year car I believe...

Let us know exactly what you have done so far. - i.e. have you replaced the stuffed box or just haven't even got that far?

The later cars come with a gearbox that has OWC stamped on the top of them next to where the filter would be, these boxes also don't have filters. These cars need the correct ecu to go with them.

yeah changed the ecu's because there were slight probems

the original gearbox is still out of the car and the frontcut 1 is in the car

I'm now gonna drop it into elfe automotives. He did the TC seal for like $500 on toms car.

He's keen to rebuild if needed.

Yea I spoke to Elfe when I got my aircon regassed (long line of coincidences), he seems like a nice guy and was very keen to help with our cars with whatever anyone needed. Tim's car is the first one he worked on, he looked after Tom when I sent him there. He's also keen to help source custom parts, so if anyone's using him for work have a chat to him about parts too :)

Well it started slipping in between gears a little when cold a few months after I bought it, this happened progressively but once it was warm it was great, then after it came off the dyno at RPW post turbo/ecu upgrade it slipped real bad...

Hope with the upgrade it will hold the power ok.
