Hi everyone

Has anyone thought about fitting an oil cooler to their AYC system ?

I was thinking about it as it may help with pump life, and that annoying AYC pressure/switch problem many people get in the warmer climates. (My red light comes on once we hit about 22 degrees ambient)

Possibly looking at mounting it flat against the bottom of the car with a grill over it...

Any thoughts ?

It would work as per any cooler.

The question is, what is the optimum temp for the AYC fluid?

If you ran it flat against the body, you'd need ducting in and out of it.

Run a small core vertically, like the z-tune R34 does, below.

The oil that gets hot is in the clutch packs, I can't think of an easy way to cool that.

The only "easy" way would be to run an external pump, and obviously then the cooler, by the sounds of things.

You'd have to tap two lines into your diff with an in-line pump, as suggested. And then you'd need to ensure you got the volume correct or you'll damage things. A GREAT deal of buggering around which I say is almost certainly unwarranted unless you're driving a track with lots of hard corners in 40+°C temps regularly...
