Today I was sitting with the car idling and noticed a lot of smoke coming out the exhaust tail pipe.
The car was already warm but had been sitting for about 30 minutes before I started it up.
The amount of smoke was like more than just cold morning startup but not quite as bad as completely worn rings but probably not far from it.
Once I drove away the smoke stopped and didn't recur when idling again.
The smoke was a whitish-grey colour.
The car hasn't been using an excessive amount of oil between oil changes and is running the correct 5W-30 oil. And is running well with no loss of power or any other symptoms.

Any ideas ? Turbo seals maybe ?

I saw a VR4 doing that once, was told it was because of their valve stem seals

or just pcv.... try that first, costs almost nothing

mine used to do that when I first got it but slowly got worse over time, it ended up being my pcv. U can get one that fits a lancer 90deg one from early 2000 model, pretty sure that's the one I got and has been smoke free since

Take off your engine cover (if you still have one) and it will be at the top right of your front rocker cover. A black piece of plastic with a 90° bend.

PCV appears to be OK.

Hasn't done it since so will wait and see if it happens again.

For the sake of, from memory about $10 I'd change it anyway.

Yeah, i'd check it anyway..

i thought mine was fine until i had my old one and a brand new one in hand and realised how much gunk was blocking up my one...
