back together , took 2 1/4 hrs , running good atm, only problem i noticed, was the pwr steer rack boot on the l/h/s, made a noise while pushing rack left to right, it sounded like fluid being drawn into and out of the rack end boot, and both rack ends move in and out a couple of mm (freeplay?not at balljoint end, at rack end) the boot shouldn't have fluid in them should they...??? can you replace a seal, or a full rack job....not happy jan...thank god for warranty...

if theres fluid in the rack end boots,
the steering rack will need a rebuild,
there should be no play.
it cannot be done while in the car, it has to be removed.
the seals are internal.
no need to go that far, you can remove the tensioner pulley and the alternator bracket, this'll allow you to just fit the alternator over the drive shaft (only fits one way, so play around with it), access is behind driver's side wheel.
