Hey guys,

Was thinking instead of replacing the tiny td03's has anyone tried ceramic coating (internal and external) the exhaust manifolds?

Turbo swaps versus ceramic coating in the context of making power, no comparison.

Ones about moving air the other keeping it cool...

Ok fine, has anyone done ceramic coating on the manifolds or turbos?

Have had dumps done, but that was less about performance and more about having to remove heat shielding to fit the bigger pipes.

The turbos are so tiny the benefit would be negligible to spool response. Main advantage would be the engine bay temp decrease. I ceramic coat my custom dumps as they are right beside the alt and a/c. To actually answer the question I think there may have been 1
Memeber in the build but isn't finished/ gone quiet.

Out of all the things I'd like to do to mine, for performance/bettering, ceramic coating is HIGH on that list. It seems t be a pain in the rear to worry about the bonnet vents in these things as no one is Aus seems to have them (reasonably priced), reducing the under bonnet temps in a more direct sense would HAVE to be the way to travel.

I've not gotten under mine to check the dumps but, as more than one of you have obviously changed them out for larger ones, I'm going to assume that the standard ones are TINY and can stand to opened up a touch?

Is it safe to say that ceramic coating them made a dramatic difference?

I've read that removing that heat shield is a general no no to these cars.

Space up the rear of your bonnet, buy a set of trotty's dumps and profit.

His dumps are available coated because the heat shields don't go back in...

bonnet spacing is legal? I have read in more than one spot that "the man" doesn't approve?

I'll look into the pipes :) thanks man!!

Last I checked most of the vented bonnets aren't either as aren't metal... one is less obvious than the other also.

I did see a set of @trotty dump pipes on Gumtree recently. Not sure if still available but I'm sure he'll make more...

Just a hint. Remove the rubber strip along the back edge of the bonnet. Makes a nice 1inch gap for extra flow.
Does the same
Job as spacing the bonnet up.

Rear dump
Pipe is the restrictive one. The front can be die ground out to match the 2.5' front pipes supplied by meek. I make the dump pipes for front and rear ceramic coated. Had to coat them as they just sit too close to the air con and alternator at the back.

I'll get that along with the polished pipes when bank isn't so sad @trotty :)

Focus on getting the damn thing running how it should for now... go fast bits and shiny bits can wait :)

I'll have to check out the rubber strip though :) thanks for the heads up

Not on a Leggy manifold, but I have had exhausts done in the past in a HPC coat. It's a good thing.

Spacing your bonnet or removing the seal will only draw air in to the engine bay.

You want air out, not in. It already comes in the front through the radiator.
