Hearing a sound of metal on metal coming from the front of the car. Apon checking my brakes the driverside disc can be moved by hand about 10mm in and out. What holds it in place? The passenger side disc doesn't move. Sould i just replace the front discs or has something broken to cause the movement?

the wheel and nuts should hold it in place. a bit of movement when wheels are off is normal. the otherside is probably just seased on. is the sound constant. have you checked to see if you have gotten a stone or something stuck in the stone guard behind the disk

No the sound is not constant its happened twice both at very low speeds, checked the rest of suspension/brakes area but cannot see anything wrong. didn't see anything in or around the disc, they are fairly rusty though (cold spec car)

Do you mean that you can move the disc with the wheel bolted on??
