I took the car to my local performance shop who tried two different plugins and had no luck at all.
They said they couldn't even access the ECU saying it may be locked.
They are probaly trying to connect OBDII, your car is MUTII. It's a mitsi thing.

When I programed my keys it took a few go's, I had to end up getting out a stopwatch to get the timing right.

Yeah, that's a good point. I know our cars use MUTll but I thought the shop should know that since they do alot of work on EVO's.
I might try the stop watch thing but I have tried that many times that I thought I should have at least fluked it by now.

It's possible it may be blocked, apparently a couple of pins have to be bridged by modifying the cord for reading our ecu's with evoscan. There's information about it on the forum.

Hey guys, I had a two button key for my galant and lost it a couple years now, and I just bought a donor car that came with one. Is it possible to reprogram a key that was already linked to a car?

Yes you can pair.

I believe you will find that it will unlock both donor and your car :)

okay thank you…I’m having a hard time getting my car into the programming mode…I checked that the obd2 port had power but now I’m wondering if I’m even doing the right thing..is it the whole bridge port 1 and 4 then touch the hazard light 6 times thing or is there another procedure…my car is a 2000 gdi to vr4 conversion if that matters

Can you program a new key without having an old transponder key as well, because all I have now is a spare key that is just a regular key with no buttons on it and a new two button key that I got from a donor car that isn’t cut for my car

You dont need the old key at all.

Do you have a photo of the key you're trying to program?

want to confirm is the same as the VR4

Getting into programming mode is hard.

Use a stopwatch to ensure youre turning the key at the right interval

How good is the battery in the key you're trying to program? If the key is quite old it will likely be flat. Probably something like the common CR2016 or CR2032 that you can buy almost everywhere. No battery=no transmission when you push a button!
Sorry you may have already checked that, no insult intended if you have.
