Let us brace ourselves for the king tides and relief of the dam to come. Lets hope the death toll does not raise with the floor waters.

edit: For those interested, UQ (st Lucia) has been officially declared closed and evacuated for tomorrow and the possibility of Thursday. If you need any updates, PM me.

Jeez, UQ is/was well above river level when i was there. Thats amazing.

keeps safe all

We've got a friend who lives at Redbank. Her complex of townhouses has gone under and looks like it might even get to the second floor where she moved all her stuff yesterday. Luckily we're on a mountain, but that has its own issues with our main road cut and second way in down to one lane for a fair part of it.

All you other QLD lot, keep safe!

Well guys, I will be there on Sunday. One of our primary office went under. Its apparently 2 meters higher than the 74 flood in their office! Servers, computers, telecoms all gone with no insurance.

Ouch!

@Dawso.. ouch dude.. how come they don't have any insurance? at my work, yesterdary we were planning for the worst.. shut the system down (Keno and pokie machines for all the casino in qld) and if the water goes up further than ground floor, then we'd have had to start pulling out drives and take it to a higher ground..

also DR was still unsure of..

@Zach.. sorry dude, dont know where Collingwood Park is.. if its in west side, then most probably half of their house is under.. would've had to flee their house and go to an evac station...

@Brett - they should've beaten up their manager.. wouldn't they have some sort of contingency plan?

Before anybody incites anything against the manager, consider that as a manager you have a duty of care for all staff under you, it also falls to you to consider in a situation like that if its safe to release the staff out into the public area.
yes i realise that everyone is free to leave at thier own discretion, but perhaps the manager was concerned for the saftey of his staff.
I have been in the same situation where we had a large fire very close to where we all worked, and whether to keep the staff safe in the building, or let them go home and possibly be caught in the fire.
In the end, everyone stayed put until emergency services deemed a safe area for us to evacuate to/through.

Anyways, i have been watching everything and i hope you and your families are all ok, stay safe and stay dry.
Resist the urge to go 'sightseeing' even after it begins to recede, its still dangerous for some time afterwads.

@Alan - not trying to diss your opinion, and probably that's what Brett's partner's manager was thinking of.. but weren't there early warning that was released at around 10am? then from that information alone that would've given a person to think wether to stay or go, and most probably they'd think of going home to secure their home and most of all family members..

sorry not trying to start a sh!t fight here but, at this time and situation.. safety of an individual should be considered first.. everything else should go 2nd..

They moved all the gear higher than the 74 flood and said they'd be right. They were wrong :(

Insurance is not covering flood damage for some reason.

If the particular person has flood cover...then yes they will be paying for it, however a lot people dont have that option for some silly reason or are insured with a company that doesnt offer it! Suncorp for example offer flood coverage to domestic customers, but commercial ones aren't given that option, so a lot of business insured with suncorp are going to be hurt...hard!
