If you have wheels that are less than 40mm offset you don't need to worry about suspension clearance anyway, you need to worry about rubbing on the body
OKAY, I got 18x8's and running 225/40R18 all 'round. Would there be an issue running something like 245/30R18 on the rear???
Same rolling diametre just look fatter on the rear?? Maybe 235/35R18??
If you keep your 225/40/18 at the front, your only real option is 255/35/18, which is only 0.23% different. Whether or not you'll be able to roll the guards enough to get those under there is another matter!
hey i've got a question...
i'm curious whether the control arm moves independently of the wheel?
cause recently i've put some 20"s on my Galant, with 225/30 20 tyres and have plans to lower it... but i can see that the 'banana' shaped control arm is about a centremetre away from the top of my tyre..
If i was to lower my car would it interfere at all?
p.s i'll have to roll my guards because my tyres stick out quiet a bit
I picked some people up from the airport a couple of weeks ago, had five adults in the car including all their luggage and the car was scraping badly, sounded terrible. Mostly from the rear LHS wheel area, but occasionally from the front LHS too. I'm assuming my 8" wide +34 offset wheels are scraping and there's not much I can do about it? Or will replacing the suspension with something with higher spring rates stop this from happening?
There is a bit of a lip on the rear wheel arch that can be pushed in. Doing that should help out a lot. I run 235's on 17x9.5" 35mm and don't have rubbing at all. You can't do much on the front though apart from stiffer springs.
Seeing Brad managed to fit 17x9.5 +35, I was thinking if it can be done, then this can be done to my car too.
Now, found a wheels I like, 17" 9.5J +38 and I used Steve's Car Calculator v2.2 and according to it, it says "1.91 cms increase outwards" / "1.91 cms increase inwards" but my track did not change at all "0cms" (based on 8" width +38)
Does this mean that it will fit but there is a 99.9% chance that it will rub/hit my "banana" arm control and need a good rolling the guards?
If you run 235 tyres then you will be fine. The point where it will touch on the rear arm is at the top of the tyre, and 235 tyres on a 38mm offset wheel will end up in the same place at the top there as on EVO wheels. I think you'll be fine.
As for the outside, yeah you will need to roll the guards quite a bit.
but for 1300 no tyres or shipping i dunno if i can justify the cost when these 7's with tyres are going for 650 (currently local pick up only in brissy but im seeing if hell post) or i can get evo 8 wheels with tyres for 1k
