Strange Noise from car rear

Heard a weird noise from the rear underside of the car today
Was driving home through Mt Gravatt, turned left onto Logan Road (So a tight-ish sweeping left up a hill, leveling off as it begins to straighten out).
I gave the beast a bit of a kick in third as a came around, about halfway through the turn. As I did this, there was a weird grinding/ratcheting noise from the rear undercarriage, sounded roughly around the diff area confused:) but I can't be too sure as I had music playing. Instantly released throttle and it stopped. Sound wasn't dissimilar to a rattle gun taking off wheel nuts or a drill hitting it's force limit.

Any ideas? Obviously I'm hardly keen to accurately recreate that sound

Didn't notice, sorry. It only happened for slightly less than a second, but was loud enough to hear over my music (you don't play Rise Against quietly), and I was looking to the right for oncoming traffic as I came around the corner.

In all honesty, your going to need to recreate the noise to Suss it out more, imo.
could be rear diff, we've had a lot of them die lately. When I say a lot- I mean, mine died, my brothers died, (we both have magna LSD's now) and guy in Adelaide bought one off me and I have a spare one left. I also think some other people in QLD have replaced diffs recently to.
Any chance could be scrubbing somewhere on the rear tyres?
Anything new or recently different on your car?
Exhaust may have been rubbing. Also could have been a rattle caused by Rise Against vs your speakers or tone matching with your exhaust note or something.

My car is (somehow) taller than stock spring height (fuck!) so no go there. I think Cam and Akko are onto something, because in hindsight it sounded a lot like the AYC pump doing a rushed/forced prime sequence. But for that to happen around a corner while driving? Weird. Hopefully it doesn't happen again. Is there much difference between a magna diff and an Evo diff in terms of fitment and strength?

Brenton: Its a factory Manual. So no Traction Control.

Chris: Yes. All 225/40R18 Same tyre too.

See if you can repeat it.

If you can, pull ayc fuses and try again to repeat it.

For it to come on in that situation it sounds like the ayc actuation is stuffing up.

Both are about the same for fitment. Magna diffs are much stronger but you lose the AYC awesomeness.
