not really. There is a lot more weight at the front which is why you want a slightly higher pressure at the front. Mitsi themselves even recommend it

Michael - I think that is a bit high at the rear! Try chucking it around a few corners, then lowering to 36 psi at the rear then go again.

Currently have 205/55/R16. Never been a fan of 55's, to sloppy on the road.

Running 45psi in all tyres. Anything less than that the car feels sluggish and tyres appear flat.

Even my 225/50/16's on stock wheels felt a bit nasty. Changing to 235/45/17 on 17x8" wheels was a big upgrade in ride and feel.

Just found this thread whilst looking for another topic.

I have 18's and have 41 in all four. Did try 44. When I got the car and checked tyre pressure after a few days, noticed that it was in the 20's!! Needless to say was rather excited at how good the handling was under the correct pressure!

So just confirming, tyre size doesn't really affect tyre pressure?

I'm currently running 225/40/18 on my FL Type S Legnum, lowered with coilovers.

my cousin was a tyre fitter for a while. basically said that lower profile tyres and stretched tyres need to run more PSI. ie, a 215/40/18 on a 9" rim would need 38psi min, 40 would be more recommended. where a stock 16" tyre would be fine with anything from 32 to 38psi.

what would be a good tyre pressure for 225/45/17 i don't mind a bit of a bumpy ride as long as the car has good grip and does not feel sluggish

also keep in mind it depends on tyre stretch. what size are ur rims?

on average i would say around 35psi. maybe bump it up to 37psi if u got a lot of stretch.

36 psi for a 45 series profile tyre doing street driving. Hit the track and pump 'em up!

Bit of a thread dig, but hey, at least i used the search function.

Currently running
215/14 R17 Achillies ATR up front- stretched (barely) onto a 8" wide EvoIX Enkei.

and 235/45 R17 Achillies ATR in the rear on the 8" wide Enkei.

currently im running 44psi in front and rear.

Rear seem to be wearing nice and evenly, but the front are wearing the inside edge rather quickly, despite aving a good alignment being performed (not sure how long that lasted for with the roads around the Hakwesbury, but anyway...)
not sure on how much camber there is in the front, but could inner tyre wear be linked with overinflation?

These 215's are nearly gone anyway so will change to 235's up front aswell,
but what would people recommend i run the 215's at for the rest of their life to get the most out of them?
then when i chuck the 235's on what should the front be?

as i mentioned, 44PSI in th rear is currently wearing very nicely, very even, little to no noticable wear in the 4 months ive had the tyres- Camber fix has been done, but still has visiable to the eye camber

44psi?!

what load rating you got on your tires?

that would make it feel like a rock wouldn't it?
