Greetings fellow nerdlingers!

Seeing as a lot of us on here are PC gamers or IT dudenmeisters, I figured I'd ask away in here.

I've scrounged together a PC from returns at work, which has;

* Core 2 Duo E8500 @ 3.15 GHz (or thereabouts)
* 8GB RAM (DDR2 I think)
* ASUS P5QL-EM Motherboard (videocard slot is PCIe 2.0x16)

I've attached a photo of the PSU as it only has a Geforce 210 at the moment, so I'm wanting to try & get the best videocard for this setup.
The slot is a PCIe 2.0x16
No, I am not upgrading the PSU, motherboard, or anything, simply trying to find out the best card I can put into this machine for some semi-decent gaming. It's going to go through a HDMI->Component converter so it needs HDMI output, & the maximum resolution it will output is only 1280x720.

Fire away your suggestions!!! :)

Not really a budget, but I am aware I'm limited in choices.

Fully understand I won't get a blazing fast card, but after the best I can get regarding the specs that is going to be better than a Geforce 210.

Yea although not really on a budget, just wanting to spend as little as possible on it as it's all second customer equipment, & I'm wanting to spec up a monster later on down the track.
Checking out that calculator.

PSU's are relatively cheap, I got my Cosair 550 for $99. A 300W PSU doesn't really allow for much, but I guess it depends on what you're doing with it (gaming/general use/hardcore rendering). its better to have too much than not enough.

Not much point in him getting a newer card, as it will be bottle necked by everything else.

Best would be to find the best of that gen of computer.

The card is on the lower end.

What are you going to be using the computer for?

Your cpu will limit most higher end cards though, so might be the way to go.

It will be used for gaming, but the maximum resolution it needs is 1280x720 as it will be connected to a TV & that's its highest output.

I can fine tune settings for maximum framerate which is what I aim for rather than actual graphic quality, plus if I really want full screen anti-aliasing, I'd just play my Sega Dreamcast.

Indeed it is the same.
Oh & my brother is offering his 450W PSU from his dead PC. Will see if it goes in tomorrow.

Well I ended up getting the Gigabyte Geforce 2GB GT640 for $99 from MSY.

Also, we fitted the 450W PSU from my brother's dead PC as well.
Fingers crossed the video card will work (haven't fitted that yet).
