Some epic rigs in here. Makes my kuhler 620'd i5 and single gtx 680 seem rather mediocre in comparison.

Tis a bit of an old rig, but cant really be bothered nor justify the price of a new mb & cpu... Currently awaiting on a couple of 140mm Corsair case fans to give more airflow around the graphics card.

Q6600 quad core overclocked @ 3.6GHZ + watercooling
16GB corsair ram (cant recall the specs, had it for so long)
MSI RADEON R7870 HAWK TWIN FROZR overclocked to the shit on stock cooling @ 1600mhz and 5200mhz memory
OCZ vertex 3 180GB SSD
ASUS PQ5E motherboard
Thermaltake toughpower gold 850w PSU
Acer 1080p 21.5" LCD (wouldnt mind an OLED!)

its a very old rig, the cpu is very very old, but still going strong. i have most nintendo, microsoft, sony consoles/hand helds. so steering clear of getting another PC unless Valve/Steam brings out something that uses Steams big picture a bit better and is smaller in size.

desktop gaming isnt for me anymore seeing as i spend 10 hours+ a day in my office at work :(

well, its an end of an era, my Q6600 (or my P5Q-E SE2) has gone to sleep for the last time after 6 years of punishment.

not sure what to do now, ive been hooking into battlefield 4 and that is really about it, before that was diablo 3 and starcraft 2.

battlefield 4 is a hard ask to fork out some $$$ just to play every few nights

edit: fixed, after 6 long years the battery on the mobo shit itself. :D

XBONE! Becoz PC iz 4 FAGGET!
Also PS4 is SHIIIIIT becoz it is same as PS3 but with new contrul.
Microsoft for Lyf, except 4 they shit PC's!!

In all seriousness, I am a non discriminating Console Fan, been giving my Xbox One a fair working out lately and it's great, will look into a PS4 in the new year.
A decent gaming desktop has been on the cards for a long time, just don't now where to start or how to justify it to the Mrs haha.

So I bought a PS3 for the hell of it. First console since the first xbox years ago. Sure it's good but holy shit the graphics suck after coming from a PC... I'm going to have to stick to PC gaming for anything that's single player or not exclusive. I've seen PS4 / Xbox One graphics and am still unimpressed - going to wait and see what games tickle my fancy in the new year before deciding. Maybe I'll wait till they're down under the $300 mark in a couple of years too.

I keep putting off playing The Last Of Us on PS3 for the exact reason. Seems like PS1 after PC. Fantastic game however.

Most of what you need for a gaming desktop is to rip out whatever shit heap Power Supply is in your normal desktop and replace it with a $60 600W unit. Then add in a decent graphics card ($200-$250), job done. You now have a gaming PC.

If you already own a desktop, it's usually cheaper to upgrade it to gaming standards than it is to buy a new gen console.

Upgrade-ability is the foundation the PC was built upon. People buying new desktops every 2-3 years is ridiculous. I upgrade my GPU every 3 years, and my CPU+mobo every 5 as a rule of thumb. Though i do freelance write for PC PowerPlay magazine, so end up keeping some review samples :)

EDIT: Oh, and replace your Power Suply every 5 years too if you live in a coastal area.
