2 types of power steering pumps?

Hey everyone, a couple of weeks ago my powersteering pump started to make a weird noise so I decided to change it. I managed to sorce one off of a member here and went to install it yesterday. Half way through I actually decided to look at how they mount only to relaise they looked different. Turns out the replacement one I have is basically a mirror image of the one in the car (fittings on opposite sides etc
Does anyone know when/why they changed designs. Are they different between pre & post facelifts, legnums/galants etc?

For reference mines a facelift 98 galant

wondering if someone with ASA (or CAPS) can confirm difference in part numbers between PFL & FL?

Found 4 part numbers:
MR316360 1996.07.1 - 1998.07.3
MR403331 1998.08.1 - 1999.01.2
MR491574 1999.01.3 - 2001.06.1
Replacement: MR961164 2001.06.2 - 2002.07.3

Seriously, you have no idea how often I get fucked over by manufacturers changing design throughout the model run! Wonder what the differences are.

the car is a PFL that it came off for reference, if its not right kym i'll take it back and i'll give you your money back or store credit

Wow really, you are one good seller.
But I'd feel bad about taking the whole lot back. At least take $20 off and buy yourself a 6 pack or something for the inconvenience.

Ok got a couple of pics last night. sorry if the first is hard to see but as i'm sure you're all aware the engine bay is quite cramped

here's my pump

notice the soft line closest to the front of the car and the hard line with banjo fitting directly next to it


here's the replacement pump i got

notice how the pipe for the soft line is now not only facing the wrong direction but is at the back along wth the banjo connection

I knew there was a difference between FL and PFL but didnt know there was 4 types!
