The good news is that it will only cost me 1 hour of labour to fix Worse than that, I was showing the car off to someone. Had to go home in 1st, 3rd and 5th.

I was shifting between first and second as quickly as possible. It popped out of gear from second and went to neutral. I thought I had mis-shifted and went to third instead. I selected 4th a few seconds later and immediately knew what I had done and groaned.

1-3-5th is not all bad, thats how i drive my work ute as i get sick of changing gears in traffic.

lol i was only having a friendly joke i just seem to see alot lately that the autos get broken bits n need rebuilds.. where as the manuals just break the gear cables. I hope im not jinxing myself - i'd probably end up being one of the first with the manual to shit itself...

I'll admit it was my fault for causing it to happen by changing gears so quickly, but it would have happened anyway, and it is much better for it to happen now than in a few weeks time when I'm doing ~1300km in it over a few days.

Meh Brad that's really a dishonest heading - you didn't break anything in the gearbox, you just snapped the plastic clip holding the selector linkage together! Hardly a big deal...

I'm surprised you didn't fix yours ages ago??

My Purple VR-4 has a brand new one, the Turquoise chassis has done 178,000km so I guess it was going to happen soon anyway. The engine has only done ~80,000km though
