Check error codes how to?

Hi guys my engine light and battery light and tcl off come on after a little bit of driving i had a faulty altenator but replaced it yesterday that fixed my volt drops problem but lights are still there. Ive check the site for a how to check error codes and only details i get is use a paper clip ive done it before with my bikes just need help with my 1997 leg
