So am I correct in assuming?

Where to know? The reservoir doesn't seem to be losing too much but that mess has come back after I cleaned it completely 2 weeks ago.

I have a spare rack, how much would I be looking at to replace it?

This is shitting me. I also found a hole in the exhaust, found the bad knock in the rear left is a shaged sway bar link and the front end is still knocking like a bitch! Even after the new suspension parts .

Could be PS rack. You should notice levels going down a little over a week or so for that amount.

Check all other fluids like brakes etc too.

Labour for a rack install would be around $800 i am guessing. You are prob best getting you spare rack reco'd first too (prob about $400).

Thanks Scottie.

Ouch! Hmmm, wonder if Christian wants to help me........

I simply cannot afford that :(

Replacing the rack is pretty much straight forward..

We'll organize something next month as I have to find a new job first..

I remember how hard it was to take the one out of the wrecked Galant....and that had no engine in it!

Its just a f*&king PITA!

Damn, that sucks the big one Trev. Best of luck with it all. :(

Mine started leaking over a year ago. Got some good quality 'stop leak' stuff and it's been all good since.

That's interesting Steve. It's worth a try. Mind telling me how you added it and what brand you used?

I got it from repco I think. Comes in a white bottle with a pointy tip. Has a picture of a old school car on it. Haha I'm so technical. Everyone recommends it.
It's like a power steering replacement fluid. So drain as much out as possible and top it up with the new stuff.

I would prefer to rebuild/replace the steering rack, but parts are just too hard to come by, and everywhere I've asked don't want to rebuild it.
