Yah see what you're saying but so what if you get a bees dick more torque at 6000 rpm? In a racing app I can see the importance

EDIT* just thinking but so what if the bowling ball has more mass hence builds more momentum energy? So your saying because the heavier flywheel gains more momentum energy at high rpm that the engine will now produce more torque. What is the direct correlation between the extra weight and momentum energy and it being able to produce more torque at high rpm?

Normally the argument about a lightened fly wheel revolves around the lack of momentum at cruise speeds etc. Making the now effortless 110km cruise, a bit more laboring on the engine...

Flywheels are not magic, they cannot increase or reduce torque from the engine or to the wheels. They might affect how that torque is delivered, but peak figures will not change.

A heavy flywheel will act like a damper on the torque change though (like a capacitor in a circuit can smooth voltage variance) which of course leads to a smoother ride. The cost of that is acceleration speed.

A very light flywheel makes getting off the line a bit more difficult, down changes are harsher (need to rev match with speed into the gear you are shifting to) and you feel variations in power a lot more. I also find that the accelerator is more touchy on the highway compared to the standard flywheel. Once you get used to it though, it doesn't really matter.

Just a quick question on the clutch housing. I have a hole in mine.... :-(
Should i get it welded up approx a bit bigger than the size of a 50 cent piece, or
Does anyone have one spare they're willing to part with???
As all wreckers want to sell as a whole gearbox.

Just after a bit of guidance with this small issue...

**Sorry if its not the right spot for this but couldnt find a manual gearbox thread.**

Wow, thats really unfortunate. Do you have any idea how it happened? Don't suppose you have a picture of the damage?

Sam, can you please post up a pic of this? I've had my g/box's inspection hole open for about 2 years, I've never had a problem..

Yeah as they said if its a perfectly round hole its an inspection plug.

On the other hand if you have a cracked hole.. i've heard of that happening due to things like bolts flying off/out.

Sorry i havent got back any sooner been busy at work.
Unfortunately its not the inspection hole.
Not sure what has gone wrong in there. I'm scared of opening it up and dont have the time to do it at the moment.
I have a feeling a spring from the clutch plate or a bolt has let go, as the clutch is now slipping and had no issue prior to noticing this hole in the gearbox.
I should also mention that there was a slight oil leak and that is how i found out the hole existed. I also had a few clunky gear changes prior to the slipping, which makes me think maybe something internal has given way as well.
I will post some pics up in the next few days.

Some photos would probably help but I imagine you will need to take it to a good mechanic or transmission specialist to sort out.

Most likely a bolt or something has come out and bunged the hole as you say.

Clutch slipping could be gear oil contamination of the clutch friction surface. If you have a hole in the gearbox and it is leaking fluid down the input shaft, this would not be hard.

Spoke to Pat @ Meek this week.. he is saying that they are recommending fitment of the 7223 *normal*, not HD.. because with the 7223HD they come from japan and then are locally modified, and they keep having issues with them and the 7223 is the most reliable they've had as its japan direct.

Find this quite interesting... I have contacted Nick Mann on clubvr4... going to get one of his evo adapter kits, already picked up an evo flywheel for $120 locally and they just get an evo exedy kit as it seems that people on clubvr4 are having good success with that. See how I go.

just had Jon fit me an Extreme HD clutch, Legnum specific KMI24003HD

very light on the pedal, very driveable, pressure plate has +25% increase in clamp load over standard

Jon has done a great job as usual......
