Have contemplated something similar as an interim measure myself, but more likely to revert to the factory solution until its conclusively proved to be a bottleneck

And that it won't be. A bottleneck. My solution is only for sound and appearance. Carl got his 314akw with a standard air box.

I have relocated my battery to boot and have this big filter now in the same place. I know that i need to design and manufacture a heat shield. Would someone like to comment on the matter....Which way to go? Does standard battery shield help at all? MAF temps are much higher than with standard intake.

It's pretty easy to knock up an air box once the battery has gone. I've got a cold air feed running from my foglight delete up into the airbox.
