Ah i see twin TD05's makes more sense!

on another note Im pretty furious, the heat treaters dropped 2/4 of the cams that I gave them to get hardened.
Dropped them when they were red hot out of the furnace so 2/4 of the cams are bent and f**ked so now Have to make another 2 replacements! damnit

but should have the short block all assembled this weekend.
Dude, I'd be furious too. Their f*ckup, I'd hope!they'd at least assist with their replacement?

Update time

tonight I narrowed the big ends of the rods to have appropriate side clearance in the crank because the Prism rods were ~8 thou too wide.

took the opportunity to do a comparison of stock rod/piston against the Prism rod and Wiseco piston

Pardon the image quality due to my potato of a cellphone and horrid garage lighting

After completing the short block tonight I got some stock cams and re-measured them and drew them in Solidworks to make the replacement billets after the heat treaters F'ed up the other ones. only did this as the now buggered billets were the first set and all made from hand written measurements. figured it was time to CAD draw them instead of having a piece of paper with my chicken scratch hand writing on it.

Now to sort valve springs and get some more steel to start the cams from scratch...

Hmmm that prism rod width is an interesting find, have you provided this feedback to the manufacturer or is this issue specific to your application only?

Jungle the BC spring that I sell with the regrinds is BC1100 but you need 1.5 sets. although it has recently come to light that the BC RB26DETT kit (cant remember part# off the top of my head) is the same spring as in BC1100 and comes in sets of 24.

These prism rods were bought in the GB on ClubVR4 a year or two so ago so Id say all prism rods are like this. someone probably just buggered up the initial measurements. Easy fix. most engine reconditioners should have a surface grinder or crank grinder or some kind which would have a grinding face large enough to take a few thousanths off each side of the rods. I did these ones by using the side of the cam grinders grinding wheel.

Ha keen eye Scott. you got me its not "finished" because there are no frost plugs, and I havent made the oil gallery bungs to replace the stock ball bearings yet.

Really, thanks for the RB info!
Exactly, anyone worth their salt can amend the rod width.

What retainers do you use with the bc springs? And ate you using standard valves?

It's good to know. But it's something that can be rectified in a simple process before purchase. As it's probably an added cost to any1 that doesn't have access to some of the specialised machinery. Just saying.

stock retainers and stock collets. no need to go changing all that unless you want to go spastic with the revs. also stock valves. as they are decent size from stock, not saying that that upgrading them isn't worth it but just aftermarket valves can be expensive if you want the good ones.

and yes Trotty is right, anyone looking at getting these rods should contact the manufacturer with this concern, I only didn't kick up a fuss about it because the rods were bought 1-2 years ago and it was the first batch that came from then. why bother with all the hassle contacting the manufacturer on the other side of the planet when it took me ~5 mins to rectify the issue.

If possible a note somewhere on the forum exactly how much they were too wide so next person to order can query the current sizing?

Edit this is invaluable for people like myself planning a similar route( maybe not so hardcore )
