Play in Steering

Hey Guys,

I have play in my steering, the steering wheel can move a few mm left to right without moving any steering components. I have had a look at the coloumn etc but cannot see any issues or places to adjust it so not sure if it is might be in the rack. A power steering place i had the car at a few months back said it is most likely the column.

Has anyone else had or have a problem like this? It isn't so much of a noticable issue when just daily driving but after spending hours on the freeway this week, it was a bit of a pain.

Tie rods perhaps? Hows the wear on your front tiers? (Rubbed down on the inside)

I don't think it is that far down. Tyres are good.

You could move the steering wheel just by blowing on it.

When you wiggle the wheel can you feel the bottom of the column moving?
