Sorry guys, I think I'm out.

Took my car to Meek today and they pointed out that the AYC pump had gone completely and that the inner AND outer tie rod ends were gone.

...

Oh.. and my catback is rusted through.

Time to call Xtreme and work out a warranty claim.... *sigh*

Date: Sunday 16th Dec 2012

Start : Thornleigh Maccas

Time : 8am

Leaving around 830, traveeling up the Pacific Hwy to Ourimbah rest area for the Central Coast peeps. Should be there around the 930-10 mark, continue up the Pacific Hwy to Newcastle, meeting up with the peeps up there at the youth centre at Windale. Once there we can take some pics then continue onto the Newcastle Foreshore for lunch, pics and socialising.

Bring : chairs, drinks, food(hot or cold), and anything else you can think of

I have a UHF radio in my car if anyone has one to bring it along so we can keep in touch whilst on the cruise

My number is 0402496881 for the peeps that don't have it yet, just in case

Looking forward to catching up with the new and regular owners

Meet time at windale?

Hit 'em where it hurts, i.e., their wallet.

You'd think the whole scene would be more reputable by now... who did the compliance? (There should be a reddish sticker on your door frame)

I'll check in the morning who did the compliance - I have the papers in the glovebox, but Meek said none of the fluids were changed, as the bolts were old. Neither was the fuel filter which was clogged - although they changed the cat. There was a lot of play in my front wheels (>3mm) and they said it shouldn't have even been rego'd.
I was promised a full service during compliance by Xtreme and have always heard good things about them, very dissapointed at the moment.

Meek also mentioned that I should make sure Xtreme dont just change the AYC switch and that they use the proper tie rod end remover.
I wonder if I can convince Xtreme to let Meek do the warranty work.

On the plus side, I am (so far) extremely happy with Meek's service and the way they explain everything to you. They said that otherwise, my car was very clean and I should be happy with the purchase. I will be, if I sort this AYC + tie rod end thing out...
It was a good thing I committed to a full service, even though it cost a bit.

Lesson learned the hard way that no matter how tight your budget is, budget in a proper inspection.

I'm also gutted that I probably can't go on the cruise. It would've been my first cruise ever :(
As much as I want to though, not sure how risky it would be, given the condition of the tie rod ends.

That's a real shame about Xtreme mate, I was looking at an Evo there and they said the same, Guaranteed every fluid from bumper to bumper changed, new filters, full safety inspection, Best evo's on the market and not a cent to spend after purchase.

Shame to find out, in your case at least, they are full of shit.

Yeah, the impression isn't very good at the moment - I heard that they were a reputable company, although things aren't shaping up that way for me. Called three times in the past two days to contact Joe, the owner. Always told that he was busy. When I mentioned it was a warranty claim I was directed to Western Car Care group (since they use a third party car warranty).

Called up the company, explained my position. They want me to go for an inspection - however, they are booked out til 15th Jan. Which happens to be the day I have to go back into work. They also mentioned how "every car Meek looks at has a bad AYC pump" and seemed to doubt their diagnosis.

Called up Meek at 3pm in a rather confused state and asked if they could send over a quote/inspection report to the warranty company to help move things along. They agreed to contact them and see what they could do. Just got a reply from them that they're faxing a quote over to the company and then I can go from there. They also advised me to contact Fair Trading to see what my rights are.

As a side note, the guys who did my compliance were "Barrev Pty Ltd" in Five Dock, according to my papers.

Ring meek and ask them if it is still safe to drive the car until its inspected. If it is then you can still come on the cruise, just take it easy.

I talked to them, they said it's ultimately up to me but if I corner too hard or hit a pothole the wrong way, it could go awry. I'm in two minds, I'm really keen on going, but not sure if im tempting fate by doing so. The left front wheel has quite a bit of play apparently.
