I got mine, which is exactly like Ben's, off a TE Magna. I think it was a 1997, cost me $44. If you are going to get one, make sure it doesn't have all the traction control stuff on it.
Shane, you already have the big throttle body.... wont affect fuel economy either. the 12kw gain was on a car running 82% then going to 100% throttle position.... see post 40 above 13kw actually....
sorry steve! but I was talking about the magna one in post 38,and it was said on fto forum that it only gained 12 kw , sorry for any confusion, you know i love your work mate!!
Yeah, 12kws lol. But hey, $44 bucks for 12kws, thats $3.60 a kw. Bargain! lol
Its more about the feel. It's much nicer to drive, much more responsive, rather than having 18 pound all piled up on a 60mm one, I had to be quite precise with the throttle pedal.
Wait so was there an actual power gain or was this figure just from your foot moving down further. 13kw in a TB 5? mm bigger sounds a bit.........too much.........considering the tuning/air/everything else is all still the same
No problems, be very interested to know what's going on. Just yeah, for such a small increase in diameter it sounds like alot of extra power, By all means, if it is what it is, that's a pretty sweet modification to bang for buck!
The 13kw I saw was on a car not quite running at full throttle then full throttle. Point was it should be nothing at that point meaning there is significant restriction. I believe bens car was 12kw gain with a tb swap.
and the magna tb is smaller than the big vr4 tb I think 67 for the vr4, 65 for the magna?
Edit: yes thats correct.
Found the following part numbers so far...
MD334006 - Galant '98 Manual
MD334007 - Legnum '98 Auto
MD362352 - Galant '00 Auto
Just need a VIN from a 1999+ Auto Legnum (Type-S?) without ASC/TCL to confirm which is the larger option or if there is a 4th P/N.
Anyone keen to PM me theirs so I can check on ASA or care to do it themselves?
To clarify, according the ClubVR4 database my codes are as follows;
SYGF3 200 X08E 06X 2000102
SYGF3 indicates that it's a Type V (no ACS, TCL, AYC or plastic arch flares)
But option code 200, says that it should have those options, as well as a Nardi wheel. I dare say option code 200 is wrong as it was colour coded yellow in the database, so they haven't confirmed it.
