Hey guys

Today I fixed a boost leak I had, there was a hole in the vacuum line going to the rear turbo wastegate.

Replaced the line and started it up idle vac was on 20 used to be on 14.

Anyway took it for a drive and the boost pressure spiked at 25psi and then dropped off down to 17-18psi, used to be around 13.

Its not hitting boost cut and runs a manual boost t, has it been tuned before or the t, turned up to much by previous owner.

Thanks.

Do you have a manual boost controller ?
Could it be it needs to be set properly ? Only because when you had that leak the boost controller could have been set with the leak and now that it's fixed obviously it's going to be different And needs to be set without the leak.

Also (maybe this might sound stupid but i've actually seen it) if you do have a manual boost controller is it fitted the proper way of (Inlet/outlet) ?

If it is a manual boost controller, chances are it was adjusted to compensate for the boost leak and you have now fixed that, causing it to over boost.

Fixing boost leaks is one of the cheapest and most effective ways of improving your vehicles fuel economy and performance. (only works if you actually have a decent boost leak though :p)

Be aware that if it WAS "tuned" before with the manual boost controller and a boost leak, its possible that it was tuned to compensate and could have incorrect fuel mapping.

Yeah it is fitted with a manual boost controller and I also thought they may be the reason just dont get why its not hitting boost cut.

Probably tuned. Check the ecu too. Mine had a Ks rom from Japan so no boost cut when winding up the ebc. You might be able to tell if it's an off the shelf rom if there are Japanese stickers on the ECU case (warning for off road use only).

Yeah, sounds like a surefire way to tell that your car has had a tune done... bit scary.

The other is to try going over 180kph.

Well it hit boost cut tonight and hard, I will replace the manual controller with an EBC on the weekend and take it back down to 13psi.

Just goto Steve and get a 3port and tune. It may cost a little more but u will reap a lot of benefits like better fuel economy.

Well I removed the mbc today and still pushing high boost, I am starting to think that the vac line I replaced to the rear turbo may be the issue.

Its like the wastegate is stuck open.
