Hey, just checked with K&N Australia via www.sorijen.com.au and the part number you have listed for the replacement panel filter is for the Amercian version, the real part number is;

33-2072 Product Specifications
Product Style: Panel Air Filter
Height: 1 in (25 mm)
Outside Length: 9.313 in (237 mm)
Outside Width: 7.438 in (189 mm)
Filter Re-Oiling Amount: 0.94 oz (28 ml)

Would someone mind checking the dimensions of the standard air filter so i can inform Sol who runs sorijen... i would but am STILL WAITING for my compliance plate!!

Cheers

today i had to change my power steering belt,

after market fitment is a ----- 6pk (groves) 1060 length

also because the alt belt has to come off to change the ps belt
i changed this at the same time ----- 4pk (groves) 950 length

i used off the shelf bosch belts.

So that doesn't match the part number you've got?

It looks like the one in the guide is correct:

Product Specifications
Product Style: Panel Air Filter
Height: 0.827 in (21 mm)
Outside Length: 9.96 in (253 mm)
Outside Width: 7.952 in (202 mm)

Airflow vs filtration capability. It might be 'nasty' to look at, but the HP gains (1 or 2 horses) vs engine wear of the K&N aren't worth it IMO

I've added the official VR4 part number with a note that a 6A12 FTO pump will also fit.

The steering actually feels a little but heavier than it used to so I'm wondering if they are actually different spec pumps...

Wouldn't surprise me, Lee - personally I'd stick with the stock item, unless you speak to an engineer or steering specialist who swears he has a replacement that will be better than stock for comparable or better money, in which case suck it and see, then let us know how it turns out!

I wonder how the Ralliart air filter is vs standered and K&N.
It has 3 layers of foam all different levels of density and does not need oil so I’m guessing it will be between the two? Or hopefully better in both ways?

Ralliart Air filter part number: RA266849K1

Once I have a bit of spare cash (and time!) I've got some ideas for building a test rig to put a few air filters through their paces, to test airflow restriction and filtration effectiveness and also compare the differences in a working application (ie how much difference it actually makes to your vehicle's power). Don't expect it for a few months, though ;)
