all done i have removed the restrictor, not hard to do at all, just pushed the air box aside and took the pipe between the intercooler and inlet off, once that was out of the way was easy to get a 10 ml socket onto it.

once i had it out, just bent a pin so that it would go back on itself and kept pulling on the restrictor from all the way around it and pop it just poped out.

havnt had a chance to run at full boost to notice any difference yet, will see how it goes when i go to work during the week.

Just to add to Josh's excellent pics:

The green circle shows where the restrictor needs to be removed from

follow the other hose that is still attached in Trevors picture above, the one with the curly plastic around it, it goes back to the intake for the front turbo.

im talking about the 2nd nozzle, the one which when you take the pill out of it would just be venting the extra pressure?

Sorry Josh, I guess leaving the disconnected hose out of the shot is a little misleading - there's normally a hose attached to the circled nozzle.

Hey I was just wondering what difference this mod makes to your fuel use? Anyone got any reasonable data on that? I thought I might remove my bung later today.

Can't really answer that question.

If you are running stock boost and do this mod you will go thru more fuel because of more power and prob a bit more spirited driving.

It all depends on how you drive.

Do you have a boost controller? If you do then i wouldn't bother.

No boost controller. All stock apart from the bung just being removed. Having a coffee then will go for a drive.

to stop any confusion, that isn't the water pump (its on the other side of the engine) that is the thermostat housing.

And another point worth noting is the rack that the solenoid is attached to is undone in this picture and it is normally positioned 90 degrees to this photo. Eg it lays inline with front - back of car. If you look just above the solenoid you will see two holes this is where it is normally attached.

Which is quite correct, as I replaced the thermostat a couple of weeks ago, and the water pump yesterday. Not sure what I was thinking... :banghead:

fuel consumption doesnt seem to change that much unless flogging it around then you use more as you have more power to go with it.

general driving seems more responsive and less accelerator needed to get same power in general about the same sith consumption i have found .

So from my understanding after reading 5 pages..

All is required is to remove that little piece of Olive Restrictor?

Or could You otherwise just join the two smaller hoses to bypass the solenoid?

And yes, my car is quite standard with no current boost controller
(sorry for my questions, Turbo is a new thing to me)
