Service done,
$1480
Timing belt & pully's / Water Pump / Spark Plugs / Oils drained and re filled /
Steve Knight did a good job was all new to him so took him few more days then thought, and parts coming from sydney arrived late so that never helps.

Labour he charged for 9 hrs as i said all new for him, but going forward the time frame and cost will reduce as he knows what to do and not to do.

$634 just for the timing belt and pully's (Ouch)
$95 for the water pump

THanks,
Cory

Hey guys..

So from reading this thread Im guessing either Boostworx or Racetech are going to be best...

What I'm after is a tune up and transmission oil change.. I can do engine oil myself, will likely do that before I take it in...

I'm lucky enough to have the jap service manual and can see the timing belt was done at 79,000k's... So that's all ok...

Anyone had a simple service like that done? How much was it?

Cheers guys!

James:
Les Haldine if you're out north
Steve Knight if your down south.

Both Mitsubishi/evo specialists and worked on MANY of these now - especially Steve Knight ;)

I had my major service done by Steve about a month back now. My labour was a bit longer but he cleaned everything up for me which was good. There was too much oil in the car. Thats another story though. Total cost was similar and Steve is a top bloke.

Hotwire - I saw your post in the ECU thread about someone who had their ECU reflashed at SKR. Do you know what mods that car had to pull the 178kw you stated.

Ive got a 7202 sitting here ready to be installed. Just waiting on down pipes and possibly intercooler depending on funds.

Steve Knight at Racetech?

Where is the workshop? I live at Underdale but I guess South is probably easiest...

You have a contact number?

Cheers dude, appreciate the help!

Often see Evo's etc. at Graham West, wondering if anyone has taken their VR4 there yet?

I went to Graham West to get my gearbox looked at when i broke the selector cable bracket before i knew what was wrong

Even though their RAA details said they work on gearboxes and i think their business card says is too (not too sure about that though). But once I told them what the car was, they then went to talk to a mechanic out the back.
When they came back they advised me that they dont do any work on gearboxes.

I think it would have been a different story if i was talking about an evo though.
Personally I would drive the extra distance and take my car to Steve Knight, he is a top bloke and is willing to help.

Thanks for the heads up, I took my honda there on quite a few occasions for different things and the work has always been quality. I did call them up and ask if the mechanics had any experience with Legnums and they gave a pretty non-committal answer. Everyone seems to give wraps for Steve Knight, and Lonsdale really isn't that much further I suppose, ta.

If anyone else is up for their major service and wants to save money on parts by buying/shipping together, please let me know!!

This is very good information, thanks everyone.

Only imput I have is that when I was looking at a vr4 from Synergy.. The dealer did tell me they service the cars and check em up at their workshop all the time.
If it's too hard for people to travel maybe they are worth a shot?

David, i'm keen!!!!
Me too! I'm thinking of taking mine to Steve Knight (based on recommendations here), is anyone else down south like me? If we can lump several VR4s in for a week or two, he can get plenty of pratice and perhaps get us a group discount? :tongue_smilie:

You dont need "group buy" pricing with Steve - his prices and service are fantastic already. About the only thing that may help is getting your 100k service parts in one shipment if you are buying them yourself from interstate to save postage.
