Simon when you say " He knows his stuff" Does that mean he has worked on our cars before? Or just proficient
with mechanical side.

Since he just opened up his new workshop, where did previuosly worked and for howlong. Does he have sufficient knowledge on VR4s

Might get myself prepared for my 100k service down the track. Even though I live around the eastern surburbs, klemzig is just around the corner. But from this thread so far Steve K seems to be the best option, but its a very very very long drive. =)

The only VR4 he has worked on is mine - he will be doing my auto to manual conversion and timing belt/water pump changeover. So yeah he is quite profficient mechanically, but hasnt worked on many VR4's. He has worked at a toyota dealer for the last 5 or years. Feel free to drop in and have a chat with him.

Seeing most of you guys are probably not reading the whole thread any more, just use Ultra Tune at Golden Grove (8289 4455) for servicing work, they're a crapload cheaper than specialists, and Andrew the mechanic in there knows his stuff - drives a Cefiro, and worked on my Galant before there were any others in Australia, they do a heap of Legnums up there now.

I've had a bad experience with Ultratune in the city before which kind of threw me off the whole chain.

Just went to Jack Baker Tyre Power for some suspension stuff, they were good and well priced. They under quoted the cost by about $70 but gave it to me for the quoted price without any hassles as well.

Ultratunes are franchises Jordan, they have nothing to do with each other or how they're run.

I have read the whole thread before, but nothing much was mention about it, only SK was...

I am aware of that. Maybe I should be more specific..

Ultra Tune in the City on West Terrace forgot to reconnect my alternator and spilled oil all over the paint of my old car then refused to accept responsibility for it. So avoid them?

Thread revive! Called up SKR today to ask about getting my 7202 and APEXi AVC-R put in and tuned, but the guy was pretty hazy with figures etc. Just wondering if anyone who's had their ECU flashed and tuned with Steve (and possibly an EBC as well) would be happy to pass on the price tags.

well I don't have a firm quote, but he did tell me it would cost the cost of the dyno time for the tune.... approx 3 hours dyno time.

Sorry to but getting my s2 Galant 02 flash tuned at Graham West was going to cost $870 but now its going to cost another $500 on top because he needs to get another ecu because mine cant be flashed does this sound right in price also includes dyno tune and power run or should i have just done a piggy back???

If it's an '02 it should have a 7203 ECU, which I think Steve Knight is now flashing (I'm sure one of the guys who's regularly in touch with him will give a more definite answer soon). If Graham West are saying they can't do it, and SKR does, then I'd be asking for some money back and going to SKR. Also if they're trying to source a 7202 ECU they can be had for around the $250-$300 mark when they come up. $500 is far too steep AFAIK, unless they are buying a haltech piggyback or something instead.

steve, it would have paid to have established if he could flash your ECU model prior to booking in.. im not sure if flash is possible yet on the later ECUs?

Inspite, is your 2001 a flashable ECU? i havent followed the ECU threads as ive a piggyback.. but SKR could NOT flash my 2001 Legnum as it had the later ECU

How recent was that Eddy? I seem to recall some movement forward with the 7203s but that might've been over at MEEK, in which case don't listen to me Steve haha.

I dropped in to see Steve last week to make sure he could dyno it and he warned me that once (and once only) he had a Legnum come in that he flashed and it was unusable requiring them to source another one.

I crossed fingers and said go for it.

Everything went well.

He quoted me up to 4 hours on the dyno at $150 an hour.

We talked a bit and he definately knows his stuff with Mitsu's. Everyone I have talked to praised his knowledge on these things and I'm looking forward to Friday :)

That would probably have been a 7201, and thanks for that!

Steve, here is a quote from another thread:

Steve can flash 7202 and 7203 now. Mine has sort of been his test case 7203, car will be back on the dyno in two weeks (away with work at the moment) for a final check and result.

Sounds like you would be fine up at SKR with your 7203.
